🏆 How is the Year in Review chart ranked?

Songs are ranked by total plays and streams across the entire year. Unlike the weekly chart, momentum doesn't matter here — only cumulative performance over all 12 months.

📊 Why does the chart stop at 500 songs?

The yearly chart shows the Top 500 songs of the year. This keeps the page fast and gives every track a realistic shot at charting — beyond 500, the rankings become statistically thin.

📅 When is the Year in Review published?

The chart is live all year round and updates continuously. A definitive frozen "year-end edition" is published every January covering the previous year's full 12 months.

🎵 What's the difference between this and the weekly chart?

The weekly chart shows what's hot right now (last 7 days). The Year in Review shows what defined the year — a song that peaked in March can still rank here in December if it was streamed enough.

🎤 Can older songs re-enter the chart?

Yes. If a track gets a sudden surge of streams — say a remix drops or an artist trends — it can climb back up at any point during the year.

🔔 Where can I see past years' charts?

Past-year archives are published each January under /year-in-review/[year]/. Follow @africapickup on Telegram, Instagram, or Twitter to be notified when a new year's edition drops.
