Afrokeji is the vibrant new album from Nigerian Afrobeat artist Keji Hamilton, marking a spirited return to his musical roots while embracing a new creative direction. Released on August 6, 2026, the 8-track project was unveiled with an Instagram announcement, following a rollout that included the reveal of the album's official cover art and tracklist . The album is available across all digital platforms.
Afrokeji represents a deliberate fusion of Hamilton's Afrobeat background with Afro-gospel sensibilities. Across eight tracks sung in Nigerian Pidgin and Yoruba, the record moves from spiritual warfare to deep gratitude, carrying messages of hope, faith, and resilience .
Hamilton explained the motivation behind the project: "After years of playing Afrobeat around the world, I wanted to create something that carried those rhythms while sharing the stories of God's grace" . The result is a body of work that celebrates Afrobeat while delivering spiritually resonant messages inspired by everyday life and human connection .
The decision to lead with "Pray for You"—rather than a more upbeat record—set a reflective tone for the album's release, resonating with listeners through its uplifting message of hope and encouragement .
The album credits GospelOnDeBeatz, E-Series (co-writer), and Uzziespace among its producers, while all eight tracks were written and performed by Keji Hamilton . Lord Jenny served as A&R, with Rita Murphy as the project's creative director . The single "Agbaya People" features a rich instrumental arrangement including trumpet, trombone, and saxophone, showcasing Hamilton's multi-instrumentalist background .
