Noise is the latest EP from South African Amapiano heavyweight De Mthuda, marking a bold new creative chapter in his already illustrious career. Known for his signature production style and ability to craft genre-defining anthems, De Mthuda—real name Mthuthuzeli Mtshali—has long been one of Amapiano's most influential figures . With this project, he delivers a concise yet powerful body of work that reflects his artistic freedom and commitment to pushing the genre forward .
Released on August 7, 2026 under Universal Music South Africa, the 8-track EP arrives following a carefully planned staggered rollout . De Mthuda intentionally unveiled new music week after week ahead of the full project, explaining: "I do not shock them; that way they can get a chance to get familiar with 'Noise'" . This deliberate approach allowed listeners to absorb the sound gradually, with each release serving as a chapter in a much larger artistic vision .
At its core, Noise is about impact, not volume. The title represents cultural shifts and creative freedom that comes from challenging structural conventions . As De Mthuda explains: "I feel raw energy in my mind; my mind state is free and 'Noise' feels free" . He describes the project as representing "being free in mind, body and spirit" —a reflection of the culture's core values of freedom of choice, thinking, and expression .
The EP features an impressive lineup of collaborators, bringing together some of the genre's most respected names. The standout track "Sasingenjena" unites De Mthuda with Kabza De Small and Mnqobi Yazo . Other notable features include Sam Deep, Ntokzin, Zar Keys, Spumante, Mpumyza, Mas Musiq, DJ Maphorisa, and Acatears . The focus track "Baleka" pairs De Mthuda with Ntokzin and features Nobuhle on vocals, while the closing "Ubuhle Bakho (Noise Reshuffle)" brings together Mas Musiq, DJ Maphorisa, and Acatears .
The tracklist includes "Skuta," "Sasingenjena," "MAVIS," "Skuta Reloaded," "Noise," "High Heels," "Baleka," and "Ubuhle Bakho (Noise Reshuffle)" . Each track brings together different combinations of artists, creating a dynamic listening experience while keeping De Mthuda's production at the centre of the project .
With Noise, De Mthuda delivers a powerful statement that reaffirms his place as one of Amapiano's most consistent and innovative voices. It is a celebration of creative freedom, collaboration, and the enduring power of music to move both body and spirit .
