Dr Mayembe - Nikuluse Ekotwapusukila

There is gospel music that entertains, and there is gospel music that ministers. Dr Mayembe’s “Nikuluse Ekotwapusukila” falls firmly into the second category. It is not a song you casually skip past. It is a song that stops you, holds you, and speaks to something deeper than the surface.
I first came across it on Google. I listened to it, and I loved everything about it. It uplifted my soul. From the first listen, it was clear this was more than a song — it was a message. I want my audience to listen and feel that same upliftment. That is the kind of music that deserves to be shared, and that is why I am writing about it here.

Dr Mayembe has built a reputation as one of Zambia’s most prolific gospel ministers. His catalog spans dozens of releases, with songs like “Shakalabe Uluse Lwamfumu” (I Will Never Forget the Mercies of God), “Ocheni Ifinshupa” (Burn My Troubles), and “Yesu Empususha” (Jesus My Savior) — all carrying messages of faith, deliverance, and gratitude. His music is rooted in Zambian worship traditions, often sung in local languages, and his delivery is marked by a sincerity that resonates with believers across the region.

His discography on Qobuz lists multiple gospel albums released in 2026 alone, including “Nabika Umulopa (Wakwa Yesu Mulifyonse),” “Lesa Chilibwe Chandi (Psalms 18),” “Nimwe Mumpela (Nshakabulilwe),” and “God Has Changed My Level.” This output reflects an artist who is constantly creating, constantly ministering through music. His YouTube presence is equally active, with a steady stream of worship songs and praise anthems.

“Nikuluse Ekotwapusukila” continues that tradition. The title suggests a message centered on mercy, salvation, or divine intervention — themes that run through much of Dr Mayembe’s work. His songs are not built for casual listening. They are built for moments of prayer, reflection, and surrender.

The track is available on major streaming platforms, including Audiomack, where Dr Mayembe has built a following for his consistent gospel output. It sits alongside his other worship releases as part of a catalog that has made him a recognizable voice in Zambian gospel music.

Worth listening? Yes, if you are drawn to gospel music that prioritizes spiritual depth over production polish. No, if you are looking for something outside the worship genre.
